Help Hopper House Help KRBNote: This page supports a very creative use of the trash can painting project by Sheila and John Elliot of the Hopper House in Nyack. Sheila and John (who is a painter), worked with children during street fairs in Nyack and at the Hopper House, painting cans with copies of Edward Hoppers paintings. The project involved children reviewing Edward Hopper paintings in the gallery and online and choosing which one would go on the can. in 2007, the fourth painting below, "Early Sunday morning" was the winner of the popular vote, and has been transferred to a trash barrel by artist John Elliot and a cohort of youthful helpers. Thanks to all who participated and please call KRB if you are interested in organizing a similar project. Please choose which Edward Hopper painting you want to see on a public trash can. Check out the four paintings below, then email your choice to Sheila Elliot, who is coordinating this project for Hopper House and Keep Rockland Beautiful. Her email is: SHEILAELLIOT@YAHOO.COM Votes will be counted on Sunday, April 22, at 5pm. On Saturday April 28 at 12:30 in the afternoon you can come to Hopper House in Nyack to see artist John Elliot transfer the outlines of the painting to the can. Then visit the Hopper House booth at the Nyack Street Fair Sunday, April 29, and help John paint the picture.
