The Panel Can Project at Indian Rock CenterWith funding help from Sen. Morahan and the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, KRB has begun installing trash "kiosks" at shopping centers. The units feature local artists and public service messages on removable plastic panels. The first set of 15 cans were installed at several shopping centers featuring the wildlife photographs of Mark Russell, a New City artist and RCC teacher. He donated his amazing flower and insect photos, and graphic artist Dan Sherman, created the finished products. Last year, with another grant, we were able to purchase twenty more receptacles and began a joint project with Richard Sena from Dalzell Management. Jennie Chien, an artist and designer from Nyack, helped us choose fabulous photos of world heritage sites, such as the Grand Canyon, Machu Pichu and Stonehenge. The completed "panel cans" are a marvelous display at the Indian Rock shopping center on Rte 59 in Montebello.
