Note about sponsors and supplies (updated 3/15/10) KRB is doing its best to raise the $15,000 - $20,000 this campaign requires just for supplies and promotion. Due to limited resources and lots of great volunteers, in 2009 we stopped giving t-shirts to every single volunteer, at a cost of about $12,000, and developed a "crew leader t-shirt" that goes to 500 crew leaders, plus anybody who wants to pre-order shirts at $10/each. We also give EVERY volunteer trash bags, a bracelet and a temporary tattoo if they want, plus we have patches for kids and Scouts. We have built up our supply of LITTER GRABBER TOOLS to about 600 for loan, and we are offering to pre-order extra grabbers for anybody who wants to buy them at $10/each (a really good deal!). Order extra Ts and grabbers using the cleanup registration form on the main cleanup page. Everybody LOVES the litter grabbers and it is a real challenge to loan them out, get them back, and loan them to the next crew --please cooperate by returning them asap after your cleanup event! Recognition of sponsors is a very high priority for this campaign. The above plan puts more money into tools, recruitment and sponsor/participant recognition (via full page newspaper ads), and less into relatively expensive giveaways (the t-shirt). Sponsors will receive multiple recognitions, including ads, listing on shirt for leaders, listing on KRB website, newsletter and other media, acknowledgement in press releases and interviews, and so on. We can also put sponsor names on litter grabbers, street banners and fence banners, as well as programs for events like the Kick-Off and the Volunteer Reception. T-SHIRT: See cleanup registration form: $75 for listing volunteer group, $125 for small business, $300 - $2000 for larger donors - thanks! The shirt back is a veritable “who’s who” of Rockland’s most civic-minded organizations and businesses. We need to raise $9000 for shirts. Larger donors get a large logo on shirtback ($500-$2000), smaller donors are listed on shirtback (small businesses $125, volunteer groups $75). NEWSPAPER ADS We will use these ads to thank sponsors and attract new volunteers. We will buy as much publicity as we can afford with the donations we receive, but anticipate a minimum of 2-5 sponsor recognition/volunteer recruitment ads in local papers, as well as radio and TV announcements. Ads will feature ALL sponsors, with those who donate more money in larger print and/or with their logos. 6 STREET BANNERS These banners span some of the busiest roads in the County, and help recruit and retain volunteers. It takes a lot of work to get them printed, installed and then removed. We thank Ira Wickes Arborists and the highway departments for hanging banners, and our sponsors for paying for them. Banner includes sponsor name and logo ($850 banner) 300 LITTER GRABBERS Having the right tool for the job makes volunteers happy, safe and productive. Handy for fishing socks from behind the dryer and cleaning up your neighborhood. Labeled with sponsor name and logo. ($1000 buys 200 grabbers, $500 for 100 grabbers.) 2 COMMUNITY EVENTS At the Annual Campaign Kickoff we honor outstanding cleanup volunteers, report cleanup results and plans, and unveil the new t-shirt design. We also begin distributing cleanup supplies. When the cleanup campaign is over we often celebrate with the Volunteer Appreciation Reception at a community center, typically attended by over 100 people. Guests share cleanup stories on the "open mic" and earn prizes for "most trash bagged" and "strangest object found." ($500 donation to be an event sponsor, helps pay for food).
