The Rockland 11 -brief historyThe Rockland 11 mural resulted from a collaboration between the Town of Clarkstown supervisor's office and Keep Rockland Beautiful, with artistic guidance from mural curator Andy Golub. The Rockland County Sheriff Dept community service program supported the project with labor for priming the wall in white. Private donors paid for the paint and stipends for the artists. The eleven artists painted "live" June 2-3, 2007, and before an appreciative public that also enjoyed music and children's art activities provided by the Recreation and Parks Dept and students from Clarkstown South High School. \'Click for photos of the eleven paintings with descriptions of the artist\'s The mural elicited quite a storm of positive and negative reviews in the local media.
