SUEZ, St. Thomas Aquinas College, & Keep Rockland Beautiful Team Up for Day of Learning & Stewardship. The week-long program, which houses roughly 30 students at St. Thomas Aquinas College (STAC) in Sparkill, engages high-schoolers interested in learning about introductory environmental issues.
For the past three years, Keep Rockland Beautiful has attended the Leadership Institute for Environmental Studies to teach students about biodegradation and the importance of waste reduction. We don’t leave before we’re finished cleaning up a section of the Sparkill Creek behind STAC, too.
The SUEZ Leadership Institute for Environmental Studies helps us foster a new generation of environmental stewards – that portion of the Sparkill Creek gets cleaner and cleaner each year. Students who participate in the program have become more knowledgeable of environmental issues and how we can work to reduce their impacts; many more have gone on to continue their education with a focus on the environment, spawning a new generation of environmental stewards.
