JOB ANNOUNCEMENT – (1) Part-time Paid Position

Position: Part-Time Cleanup Campaign Assistant

The Cleanup Campaign Assistant supports Keep Rockland Beautiful’s Great American Cleanup (GAC) Campaign which runs April – May. The GAC engages thousands of volunteers throughout the county in removing 30+ tons of debris from the environment and our communities, while providing a powerful vehicle for raising awareness about ways to reduce waste and protect our waterways.

Primary Responsibilities:  Volunteer outreach and support; Supply inventory and distribution; Data entry; Support at Community Cleanup Events

Hours: An average of about 7 hours per week from March – June/including some weekend hours

Reports to: Cleanup Coordinator

Compensation: $16 per hour

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY

The Cleanup Campaign Assistant works with the Cleanup Coordinator to conduct volunteer outreach, organize and distribute supplies, support cleanup volunteers and Community Cleanup Event Leaders, and enter critical cleanup registration and reporting data.

The appropriate candidate will be comfortable and competent in a range of responsibilities in the field such as hanging banners, organizing KRB’s Supply Shed, providing clear and engaging educational and cleanup safety orientations, and assisting at Community Cleanup Events. The position includes responsibilities in the office, such as conducting outreach and volunteer follow-up through email and/or the phone, including promoting and providing volunteers with assistance in fulfilling community service opportunities; The candidate will also be adept at accurately entering information into our database (Insightly CRM).

Requirements for Cleanup Assistant Position:

  • Passion for environmental protection and familiarity with environmental issues, most particularly, waste reduction, recycling, and watershed protection
  • Possess effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable providing instruction and educational orientations to cleanup volunteers
  • Adept at organizing supplies and documenting inventory
  • Enter data accurately and efficiently. Experience with Insightly CRM is a plus.
  • Ability to prioritize and ensure proper completion of work assignments
  • Comfortable working outdoors and able to lift at least 20 lbs
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Experience with Google Applications
